Jun 21, 2023Firefighters' Fill The Boot drive for muscular dystrophy returns this weekend
CASPER, Wyo. — Casper firefighters say they have personally witnessed the positive impact of the long-running Fill The Boot campaign, a partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which returns this weekend.
“Bring your buckets of spare change, or that extra dollar in your cup holder. You will quite literally join us in saving and improving lives,” Casper Firefighters said on social media.
Firefighters will be at several locations in town and ready to quickly collect donations, even from the donor’s vehicle, during the Labor Day weekend. Locations are noted below.
The campaign, nearly 70 years running, contributes to research and opportunities for children afflicted with muscular dystrophy to attend a summer camp “reported to be the highlight of the year for all involved,” the firefighters said.
“The small handfuls of pocket change, the one- or two-dollar donations, and the goodwill of our giving community have directly contributed to the development and approval of over a dozen new treatments for muscular dystrophy,” the release said.
The firefighters will be collecting at the following locations from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 1–2 and Monday, Sept. 4:
“Even if your situation prevents you from donating, we still love to see and interact with the people we serve,” the firefighters added.
No cash? No problem! A secure donation link has been established, and can accept your electronic donation of choice. Alternatively, scan the QR code on any mobile device for a direct link.
